Looks like years have passed, but humans have learnt nothing from their mistakes. When terrorists ruthlessly killed children in Peshawar, for international media it was against education , not the Muslim children . Now when terrorists have attacked journalists in France, it is against the “freedom of speech and expression” of Christian journalists. Recently, Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder of Facebook ,shared a status in which he said ,
“A few years ago, an extremist in Pakistan fought to have me sentenced to death because Facebook refused to ban content about Mohammed that offended him … We stood up for this because different voices — even if they’re sometimes offensive — can make the world a better and more interesting place… We follow the laws in each country, but we never let one country or group of people dictate what people can share across the world…”.
Well! Firstly, a handful of extremist Muslims are not the representatives of the whole Muslim community. Secondly, it’s not just about the objectionable content related to prophets. It’s about the hate speech that can initiate another war. Thirdly, I wonder if he is telling us that if Muslims will point finger towards Christians and Christians will mock Judaism, world will become a better place to live. Lastly, it’s not about one country or group of people it’s about the whole world. What good the comments under this status have done other than giving people an opportunity to abuse each other? And Mr. Mark Zuckerberg is taking the credit by telling us that Facebook has always been a place where people across the world share their views and ideas. Get a life!
The attack on French journalists has overloaded social media with hatred. The worst trend that I have ever seen is #KillAllMuslims. Is it not extremism ? Anyway , people are relating this attack with the clash of civilizations and war of Armageddon. Here it is pertinent to mention that religion is not the actions of its followers but what is written in the book of God. Many innocent people lost their lives in the name of war on terrorism that was waged against Al-Qaeda. Should Jesus be blamed for it? No. When Jews kill Muslims in Palestine or when Hindus kill Kashmiris, it is just a war and nobody blames Judaism or Hinduism. Similarly, when few extremist Muslims kill other Muslims, for the whole world it is “normal” . But when they kill non-Muslims, it is some kind of “Holy war” against the non- Muslim world. Isn’t it absurd! To me, it looks like a handful of Muslim extremists are killing Muslims and pissing of non-Muslims to kill more Muslims. The point is: When the majority of the perpetrators and victims are Muslims, how can this war be a threat to other religions?
Though the proponents of war on terrorism claim that by killing OBL they have won this war, it is a fact that the names on the list of the most wanted terrorists have been increasing every day. Credit goes to our double standards , not to the teachings of any religion . Apparently, the whole world is against terrorism, but in reality countries are sponsoring terrorists for their own survival. For instance, recently the Indian National security advisor Ajit Kumar Doval confessed that India is sponsoring terrorism against Pakistan. Now, when Indian sponsored terrorists attack Pakistan , its ok. But if another terrorist organization targets Indians , it is terrorism. In other words, if some people are fighting terrorists , some are also strengthening their roots . On the other hand, terrorists want people to execute their missions. No matter which religion you follow, if you believe in God you will agree that nothing is more appealing than the will of God. Lack of religious knowledge and reluctance to explore the wisdom behind the teachings of a religion adds fuel to the fire and empowers extremists to use the name of religious for their dirty goals. Considering all these facts, how can you blame a single religion for terrorism?
Power comes with great responsibility. The reality is that no God asks his followers to please him by spilling the blood of innocent people. Neither a religion tells people to abuse the prophets of other religions. Therefore , if some people are just using the name of religion for their personal benefits , it should be considered as their personal act . Furthermore, nobody is against the idea of “freedom of speech and expression” . However, there exists a difference between “freedom of speech” and “ Hate speech”. Any content that has the potential to initiate another war must be filtered. If the whole world is sincere with the cause of uprooting terrorism , for greater good the concerned authorities would have to play their role. Otherwise, we will not be able to end the war against terrorism
Completely agree with you but we do have problems we need to address because it is these Daesh that kill in the name if Islam which is hard to fathom For muslims and not muslims.
That twisted view has to come from somewhere and how are you changing this as an Umrah and challenging the propagators of such acts.
Islamic world needs a representative and a just recognised authority to decide on matters like a Majlis-e-Shudy of Al Muslim nations representing a global Ummah.
Nobody agrees that Islam is being demonised purposely to fuel geo political and economic agenda more than me.
The very fact that our brothers and sisters are joining such proxies is what is troubling and that is a failing ofor this fragmented disillusioned Ummah.
Sorry predictive messaging .. Ummah not umrah
Majlis-e-Shura not.. what was written.
