ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesman Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry Thursday said the recent visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to New York remained very successful as the Prime Minister interacted with a number of world leaders and addressed various meetings.
The spokesman in his weekly briefing said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s visit to New York was very successful.
He said Prime Minister apprised the international community of Pakistan’s priorities.
He said that Nawaz Sharif met with eighteen Prime Ministers and heads of state during the visit adding that a good beginning has been made on drone strikes as international public opinion against the attacks has started developing.
The Spokesman said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif told the international community that drones strikes are against sovereignty as well as international law.
He said drones fan terrorism and Pakistan has shown always resistance against them.
Replying to a question regarding meeting of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with his Indian counterpart Dr. Manmohan Singh, the spokesman said all the issues including Kashmir, water, terrorism, and Sir Creek came under discussion during this meeting.
He said both the sides agreed to take immediate steps to stabilize situation on the Line of Control.
He said immediate take away of the meeting was agreement that both Director General Military Operations will meet soon.
The spokesman said Pakistan has a clear stance on Kashmir dispute adding “We believe it must be resolved according to the aspirations of Kashmiri people and United Nations resolutions”.
Regarding terrorism, the spokesman said Pakistan is victim of it adding “We have every incentive to work with everyone to get rid of this menace”.
Answering a question about Indian involvement in Balochistan, he said whenever Pakistan and India will talk on composite dialogue, Pakistan will raise this issue.
