Social networking service, Facebook, has achieved a milestone of reaching two billion users. The company has been in service since 2004 and is helping people to connect from different parts of the world to a single platform.
The news of this milestone was shared by Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, and Founder of Facebook. Mark said, in this Facebook post, that the Facebook community is now officially two billion people. Furthermore, he also asserted, “We’re making progress connecting the world, and now let’s bring the world closer together”.
Product Manager of Facebook, Mike Nowak said in his blog post that the company reached this milestone due to smaller communities and individuals who are sharing and making meaningful contributions every day.
Facebook reached one billion user mark back in 2012 and since then the company has grown significantly in terms of both users and features.
To celebrate this new milestone the company has announced that it will be launching new updates for its users in the coming days which include, Good Adds up Video, Celebrating the Good People Do, and Sharing Community Stories and Impact.
Recently the company has also rolled out massive updates for groups admins to make it easier for them to control and use their respective groups. Owing to updates the company is making sure to make its platform safer and easier to use for both users and admins of group community.
The company is also keen on curbing extremist content from its platform and for this purpose the company has announced that it will now tighten its platform and make it hostile for terrorists and malicious posts. Facebook is planning to hire 3,000 employees to filter out malicious content from its platform.
