LAHORE: All officers (in BPS-17 and above grades) of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) will donate their two-day salary to Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dams Fund – 2018, established in the light of a Supreme Court decision, for these two vital projects to increase water storage capacity and meet the electricity demand of the country.
Similarly, according to a spokesman for Wapda, officials from BPS 1 to 16 will contribute their one-day salary to the fund.
“The decision to give donation to the fund by the employees was made in a meeting presided over by Wapda Chairman retired Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain,” the spokesman said in a press release issued here on Tuesday.
It is pertinent to mention that there are more than 17,500 employees of Wapda in the country.
On the other hand, officers of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) have also announced that they will contribute to the fund by donating their two-day salary. However, the subordinate staff will donate their one-day salary for the purpose.
CM’s DONATION: Caretaker Chief Minister Dr Hasan Askari has donated Rs0.5 million for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam.
He has given a cheque to the fund established for this purpose.
In a statement, he said that construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam is pivotal and the nation should take active part in the campaign for collecting funds for the dam.
Keeping in view the present situation of water and the future needs of the country, every citizen should take part in this noble cause and donate according to his or her capacity, he said.
Similarly, the officers of the Bank of Punjab have also announced a donation of Rs10 million for Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Fund – 2018.
