ISLAMABAD: Classes at the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) resumed on Thursday after they were suspended following clashes between students’ groups over the weekend.
A notification issued by the varsity banned has all students’ councils on campus.
On Saturday, around three dozen students were injured after clashes erupted between students’ groups from Sindh and Balochistan. After being called in, police resorted to tear gas shelling and baton charge to disperse the students.
Later, FIRs were also registered against several students at the Secretariat Police Station on the complaint of a QAU official. The students were accused of possession of illegal weapons, wreaking havoc and attempted murder.
