China on Monday successfully launched a replacement weather satellite with 11 remote sensing payloads, which besides enhancing the country’s meteorology capacity, will monitor global snow coverage and sea surface temperatures.
The satellite was embarked on planned orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China, state-run Xinhua press agency reported.
Fengyun-3E(FY-3E) is going to be the world’s first weather satellite in early morning orbit for government officials, the report said. it’s designed with a lifespan of eight years and can mainly obtain the atmospheric temperature, humidity, and other meteorological parameters for numerical prediction applications, improving China’s weather outlook capacity. it’ll also monitor the worldwide snow cover, sea surface temperature, natural disasters, and ecology to raised answer global climate change and stop and mitigate meteorological disasters. additionally, the satellite will monitor solar and space environments and their effects, also as ionospheric data to satisfy the requirements of space weather forecasts and supporting services, the report said.
