LONDON: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson hosted a birthday get-together during the principal Covid lockdown in June 2020 when get-togethers inside were prohibited, ITV News covered Monday.
The disclosure tightens up the tension on Johnson over a progression of get-togethers at his 10 Downing Street home that would appear to have disrupted the pandemic lockdown norms forced by his administration.
His office questioned the case it was a party, telling ITV: “A gathering of staff working in No 10 that day accumulated momentarily in the bureau room after a gathering to wish the state leader a cheerful birthday.
“He was there for under 10 minutes.”
The channel said it was affirmed the state head’s significant other, Carrie Johnson, coordinated the party on the evening of June 19.
