BIRMINGHAM: Pakistan’s young all-rounder and hero of ICC Champions Trophy warm-up match against Bangladesh Fahim Ashraf has set high targets for himself in his career ahead.
Speaking to Geo.tv soon after his remarkable performance in the match against Bangladesh, Fahim said that he is looking forward to continuing the momentum.
“I am confident that I will be able to keep the momentum from here and show the similar performance in matches to come,” said Fahim who hails from Kasur and plays for Faisalabad region.
“My only target is to keep Pakistan’s name on top,” said a confident Fahim.
His innings of 64 not out off 30 has made him a favourite for Pakistan’s encounter against India and the young all-rounder is looking forward to it.
“Making a debut against India would be the best thing for me, I am hopeful and confident that I will get a chance in that match,” he said.
“And if a chance is given to me, I will repeat the show against India as well,” said the 23-year-old cricketer who was originally included in the team as a bowling all-rounder.
Replying to a question, Fahim said that he played his natural game against Bangladesh which rewarded him with the match-winning performance.
“I played my natural game, I always play like this. I have played some knocks similar to this in domestic tournaments as well so I was confident and Bangladeshi bowlers delivered at my favourite areas,” he said.
Fahim added that he and Hassan had decided to charge and score 12 runs every over and it worked for them.
The young all-rounder is now hopeful that he will get a long run with Pakistan team and will be able to win more matches for the country.
