4. Relief Provisioning
- Relief operation is still going in full swing with Army / FC , District Administration and Civil Society.
- A substantial amount of relief has been sent in. So far 45840 tents, 27985 blankets, 16325 food packs, 400 jerry cans of Water, 23200 mosquito nets and 19590 plastic mats have been sent to the affected area. PDMA Balochistan plans to provide 4000 food packs on daily basis for next one month to the affected area, while PDMA Punjab is providing 3000 food packs on daily basis for one month. In addition NDMA is transporting food packs and other relief items provided as donations by civil society or received through foreign assistance (Qatar, China and Saudi Arabia).NDMA has also provided 11 water purification units and 37 generators to the affected area.
- National Logistic Cell was also mobilized for transportation of relief items to the affected areas.
- A comprehensive Damage Assessment, being undertaken with the help of Army, Civil Administration and NADRA, on the assessment patterns of NDMA, is nearing completion. The entire operation is being very closely monitored by NDMA.
- To facilitate / coordinate responses four field teams of NDMA remain deployed from the very beginning in Karachi, Bela, Khuzdar and Awaran.
- Civil Society’s contributions (of organisations only) so far are as fol, some of the major contributors in this regard have been Nestle Pakistan, Och Power Plant, NRSP, Toyota Motors, Khidmat-e- Khalq Foundation, PRCS :-
PKKH: What is the rehabilitation plan for the people of effected area and what are the problems that NDMA faces on ground?

- A very comprehensive plan of Rescue & Relief already explained above.
- Need now is for a Reconstruction and rehabilitation Plan. Govt is already working on the detailed plan of Rehab, details will be made public upon finalisation.
- The focus of Early Recovery Plan is to ensure that all the essential services and facilities including health, education, water supply and others are made functional at the earliest possible, without having to wait for the subsequent reconstruction plan, that will be a time consuming process. The plan being formulated would entail provisioning of transitional shelters, ensuring educational, health facilities and governance facilities up and running, repair of road network, communication, repair of water supply schemes, karezes, provision of livelihood etc. This plan is conceived to take 3-6 months for completion of al projects.
