NAROWAL: After serving a two-and-a-half-month jail sentence, Umar Dar, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), returned home.
After 75 days, Dar, the son of Rehana Imtiaz Dar, the PTI-backed candidate in NA-71 Sialkot, was freed on bond.
Upon his release from prison, he was pelted with flowers and lavished with affection by a multitude of PTI employees. They yelled chants supporting Umar Dar and their party. His mother, Rehana Imtiaz Dar, welcomed him home, and the mother and son gave each other hugs.
Speaking with the staff, Dar announced that, after ten months, he had gone back to his house. According to him, persecution of PTI employees began after May 9. He claimed that he had arrived to his house because God had given him bravery and power. He remarked that all of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) officials and employees who have been missing from their residences or detained since May 9 were in his thoughts and prayers. He thanked his mother for her bravery.
After May 9, Umar Dar fled into hiding while law enforcement and security organizations continued to search for him. It was during a joint operation by police and security agencies that he was taken into custody from a hotel 75 days prior. He was booked in cases that were filed with Sialkot’s numerous police stations.
at order to retrieve his brother, Umar Dar’s brother filed a petition at the high court as they were unable to locate him and the police were not displaying his arrest.
Ten days following his arrest, Sialkot police acknowledged that they had detained him under LHC directives. In a video posted on social media, his mother Rehana Dar said that her son’s arrest was a pretext for her not to file her nomination papers and run against PML-N candidate Khwaja Asif.
