In an apparent response to a poll he launched that suggested users wanted him to step down, Elon Musk stated on Tuesday that he would resign as CEO of Twitter once he finds a replacement.
Since October 27, Musk has owned Twitter in full, sacked half of its employees, reinstated far-right figures, suspended journalists, and attempted to charge for services that were previously free.
“As soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job, I will resign as CEO!” Musk stated in a tweet that he would then only manage Twitter’s software and server teams.
Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.

In the poll that was released on Monday, 57% of respondents, or 10 million votes, supported Musk leaving the company just a few weeks after he bought it for $44 billion.
Musk has used the Twitter polls to make other decisions about the platform, like getting the account of former US President Donald Trump and other people who were suspended back.
He tweeted, “no one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive,” mocking a report earlier this week that he was looking for someone to take over as Twitter’s boss.

Analysts have pointed out that Tesla, Musk’s electric car company, has seen a one-third drop in its stock price since he took over Twitter. Some analysts have even suggested that Tesla’s board was trying to get Musk to leave Twitter.
On Tuesday, Wedbush analyst Dan Ives stated, “Finally a good step in the right direction to end this painful nightmare situation for Tesla investors.”
Following the publication of his most recent poll, Musk had reiterated his warnings that the platform might fail.
