Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, started a poll on the social media platform on Sunday to see if people wanted him to step down as CEO, and he said he would follow the results.
The billionaire did not provide any specifics regarding when he would step down if the poll results indicated that he should. However, the poll is scheduled to close around 11:20 GMT on Monday.
Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.

Musk stated, “There is no successor” in response to a Twitter comment regarding a possible CEO change.
Last month, Musk told a Delaware court that he would cut back on his time at Twitter and eventually hire a new CEO.
The poll follows Twitter’s Sunday policy update, which prohibited content with links or usernames for rival platforms and accounts created solely for the purpose of promoting other social media companies.
Musk issued an apology and tweeted, “Going forward, there will be a vote for major policy changes” a few minutes prior to the poll.
A few hours later, Twitter launched a poll to find out if the company should enforce a policy that prohibits accounts from advertising on other social media platforms.
Going forward, there will be a vote for major policy changes. My apologies. Won’t happen again.

Twitter support stated in a tweet that the policy update would allow cross-content posting while affecting content from social media platforms like Meta Platforms’ Facebook and Instagram as well as Mastodon, Truth Social, Tribel, Nostr, and Post.
Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter, recently made an investment in the social media platform Nostr. His response to the Twitter support post was one word: Why?”. Dorsey wrote that the Nostr promotion ban “doesn’t make sense” in response to another user’s post.
ByteDance Ltd. of China’s short video platform TikTok was not on the list.
Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council, a volunteer group established in 2016 to advise the social media platform on site decisions, was disbanded last week.
Since Elon Musk, who is also the CEO of Tesla, bought the social network, other erratic actions have taken place at Twitter. This policy change comes after those. He terminated top administration and laid off about portion of its labor force, while wavering on the amount to charge for membership administration Twitter Blue.
Due to a controversy surrounding the publication of public data regarding the billionaire’s plane, Musk also suspended the accounts of several journalists.
After receiving criticism on Friday from government officials, advocacy groups, and a number of journalism organizations, Musk reinstated the accounts, with some claiming that the microblogging platform was threatening press freedom.
