Syeda Tahira Safdar is most likely to be appointed as the first woman Chief Justice in Balochistan High Court (BHC). This development is doubly significant given the fact that she will also be considered as the first female Chief Justice in Pakistan.

About Syeda Tahira Safdar
Mrs. Safdar was born on Oct 5, 1957, in Quetta. She also happens to be the daughter Syed Imtiaz Hussain Baqri Hanafi, a renowned lawyer.
After receiving basic education from Cantonment Public School in Quetta, she went on to get her bachelor’s degree from the Government Girls College, Quetta. She got her law degree from the University Law College, Quetta in 1980. She also holds a Master’s degree in Urdu literature from the University of Balochistan.
Her achievements include:
- Passed a competitive exam held by the Balochistan Public Service Commission after which she was appointed as a civil judge on April 22, 1982.
- Senior Civil Judge on June 29, 1987.
