The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) has taught programming to 3,000 students from different government schools in the province, as part of the first phase of the “Early age Programming and IT Essentials Initiative’ training program.
KPITB and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department (KPESED) joined hands in April 2017 for this initiative, in order to prepare the upcoming generation with modern technology, so that they are ready and prepared for the job market.
According to documents from KPESED, the project had been initiated with the help of around twenty trainers, as a “test” at sixty government schools in fourteen districts across the KP province.
Students were encouraged to join the initiative and learn about modern technologies in a fun and interactive way.
KPESED further revealed that the students were taught to think for themselves, to generate their own ideas through imagination and create innovative products.
By learning programming languages the students managed to develope hundreds of animations and applications, including mobile games.
While talking to the media, Zia-ur-Rehman, Media Adviser for K-P Elementary and Secondary Education, said:
The first phase of this initiative had been completed in which 3,000 students — including 285 from just six government schools of Peshawar, from grades six through nine, were trained.
According to Mr. Rehman, over 300 students will be trained in the second phase of this program. He revealed that KPITB also provided training to many teachers in the province as well.
