Aleem Dar, Pakistan’s most respected and appreciated cricket umpire, announced on Monday that he is going to supervise a T20 international match.
“It is going to be a different event as it has its own significance and is going to be a memorable moment of my career”, he said.
Previously, he supervised about 41 T20 international games abroad but none of them were hosted by Pakistan.
Aleem Dar has received ‘ICC umpire of the year’ three times for his exceptional umpiring skills and recognition worldwide.
He said:
I have achieved a number of milestones in my umpiring career but standing in my own home ground will be something which I will always cherish in my memories as I have supervised a lot of T20 games abroad.
Moreover, he said that he was also delighted that the impasse had been broken and Pakistan could finally host international cricket.
He further stated that the World XI tour will be of immense significance for Pakistan cricket and it will prove to be beneficial for highlighting PCB efforts for overall development and progress of the game.
Aleem will be supervising only the opening encounter between World XI and Pakistan on September 12 and will be assisted by Ahsan Raza (on field) and Shozab Raza (third umpire).
Sir Richie Rishardson has been appointed as the match referee of the ICC.
After the match, Aleem will go to Dubai for attending a workshop being sponsored by ICC.
