RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Bajwa on Saturday held a reception for visting Brazilian football celebrity Ronaldinho and other seven top footballers, ARY News reported.
The COAS thanked the footballers for visiting Pakistan and maintained that Pakistan is a peaceful and sports loving country as sports promote peace.
“Your visit is most welcomed by all Pakistanis especially young footballers,” COAS remarked.
The COAS also thanked Leisure League for organizing the trip in collaboration with Pakistan Army and promoting peace and sports.
The visiting players thanked COAS for organizing their tour and the support. The visiting footballers said that Pakistan is a beautiful country and they look forward to enjoy the trip.
Recently retired Ronaldinho, famous for his stints with Spanish club Barcelona, is the lead attraction among the group dubbed “Ronaldinho and friends”.
Former Manchester United stalwart Ryan Giggs, Brazilian Roberto Carlos, former England goalkeeper David James, Dutch star George Boateng, former French players Robert Pires and Nicolas Anelka, and Portuguese player Luis Boa Morte complete the line-up.
The group has reached Karachi to play their first game in Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium.
