NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit said no solution to Kashmir dispute is acceptable unless it has consent of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In an interview with Indian daily, The Hindu, he emphasized that Kashmir issue must be resolved according to UN resolutions and as per aspirations of Kashmiri people.
He expressed the hope that talks between Islamabad and New Delhi will resume in the near future. However, he said talks and preconditions cannot go together.
To another question the High Commissioner said sports and politics should be kept separate.
He said Pakistan and India should play cricket and other sports too.
