GUJAR KHAN: Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff General, stated Thursday that shooting must continue to be a core component of military training since it is a hallmark of a professional soldier.
The army chief was speaking at the 44th Pakistan Army Rifle Association central meet, which was held at the Army Marksmanship Unit in Jhelum on Thursday, according to the ISPR.
More than 2,000 shooters from different military departments, including the army, navy, air force, and Rangers from Sindh and Punjab, participated in the shooting competition, which took place from October 14 to November 28 at the central meet, according to the ISPR.
Winners and runners-up received medals and trophies from Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Chief of the Air Staff Gen. Asim Munir.
Three inter-services matches were won by the Pakistan Army, and the CAS match was won by the Pakistan Air Force. The overall Championship Trophy was won by the Pakistan Army. The Pakistan Army won the FTR team title as well.
Pakistan Army representative Naik Waseem Ahmed Khan received the President’s Cup National Challenge match trophy.
The Prime Minister Skills at Arms Big Bore National Challenge was won by the Pakistan Air Force. In the infantry squad’s parafiring competitions, the Azad Kashmir Regiment took first place.
As the top performer in military shooting, Sepoy Aftab Ahmed of the Punjab Regiment received the coveted “The Master at Arms” Trophy.
Havaldar Fateh Ullah Khan of EME Battalion and Lance Dafadar Muhammad Imran of Cavalry were given “The Best Shot Match Trophy” for Groups 2 and 3, respectively. The soldiers’ exceptional shooting was praised by the army leader.
