DOHA [Qatar], (Parliament Times) : A special send off dinner was hosted here Sunday to honor three Qatar based cricketers selected to participate in the upcoming International Masters Cricket IMC Over 40s T20 World Cup being played in Karachi Pakistan.
The players Adnan Khan Badar Atique and Hasham Khan will represent the Rest of the World XI competing alongside seasoned veterans from around the globe. Badar Atique previously represented Canada in the 2023 IMC Global Cup also held in Pakistan.
The IMC World Cup features two competitive groups.
Group A includes hosts Pakistan led by former Test cricketer Abdul Razzaq along with UAE Canada Hong Kong China South Africa and West Indies.
Group B includes Australia Sri Lanka Zimbabwe USA Rest of Gulf and Rest of the World.
The farewell dinner brought together respected community members and cricket enthusiasts. Discussions focused on forming a Veterans Cricket Association in Qatar aimed at creating structured opportunities for Over 40s and Over 50s players to represent Qatar in future IMC global and regional tournaments.
One of the organizers and an active member of the wider community in Qatar spoke with RKI and expressed his pride. Qaiser Khan said, “This is a great moment for all of us. Having three of our members represent Qatar in such a major international cricket event is a proud achievement. This is just the beginning and we look forward to seeing more talent from Qatar shine on global platforms.”
The IMC Over 40s T20 World Cup will begin on 21 November featuring teams from 10 countries along with two multi nation squads.
