According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), England defeated Pakistan by six wickets in their ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup encounter on Monday at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval in Johor, Malaysia.
England secured their first victory of the tournament by chasing the 67-run mark in 9.2 overs, according to a statement from the PCB.
Ireland is currently in fourth place in Group B, whereas Pakistan, who received one point for their canceled first match against the US, is now in third place.
The team captained by Komal Khan lost wickets at frequent intervals after England asked Pakistan to bat first, falling to 35-5 in 9.2 overs and then 66 all out in 18.5 overs.
With two boundaries and a 13-ball total of 15, Zoofishan Ayyaz took the lead, while Komal added 12 from 25 balls and two fours.
Olivia Brinsden and Tilly Corteen-Coleman both took two wickets, while Amuruthaa Surenkumar was the standout bowler for England with figures of 3–17.
England was then down to 33-4 when captain Abigale Norgrove (14 not out, 9b, 2x4s) and player of the match Katie Jones (20 not out, 16b, 1×4, 1×6) stitched an undefeated 34-run fifth-wicket stand. Fatima Khan and Quratulain each removed a batsman, while Mahnoor Zeb took two wickets.
